Ibanda's Residents Shocked by Thieves Who Steal and Then Give Transport Money

The community in Ibanda is expressing growing concern over a surge in theft and robbery. According to residents, thieves have adopted new tactics, not only stealing valuables but also providing victims with transportation money.

One resident, John, shared his harrowing experience. Last week, while returning from work, he was confronted by three thieves near Ekyorora. They demanded that he hand over his belongings, which included a phone and 50,000 shillings. After complying, the thieves asked John where he was headed and, upon learning he was going to the university stage, gave him 3,000 shillings for transportation.

This incident is not an isolated one. Patricia, a university student, was attacked in her room last Saturday while asleep. The thieves made off with her phone, money, and other valuables totaling 120,000 shillings. In a bizarre twist, Patricia reported finding 5,000 shillings left behind, which she believes was intended as transportation money to report the incident to the police.
